Controlling Coda with AppleScript

Last updated: August 25, 2008 (Coda 1.5)

Coda 1.5 greatly improves support for AppleScript, allowing you to extend Coda's functionality with scripts that manipulate text and perform other tasks.

In the General tab of Coda's preferences, you'll find a new checkbox: "Show Scripts menu". Checking this box adds a Scripts menu to Coda's menu bar, directly to the left of the Help menu.

This menu shows scripts that are installed in Home > Library > Scripts > Applications > Coda

If this Scripts folder does not exist when you enable the Scripts menu for the first time, Coda will create it, and install a few sample scripts for you to use and adapt for your own purposes.

You can reveal this folder in the Finder by choosing Open Enclosing Folder from the Scripts menu.

If you add new scripts to the folder while Coda is running, choose Reload Scripts from the Scripts menu and Coda will find them.
